User blog:Betagammadelta/On the recent edits by anonymous users

Hello once again!

Today I seek to address the recent spike in edits made by anonymous Fandom users. Of course, our policy for this wiki is to encourage audience participation by all means; this website would be nowhere near as developed as it is today without your help, and for that I express my sincerest thanks.

With that being said, however, recently there has been activity which has not contributed to the improvement of the wiki. This can be divided into two main categories:

1. Misuse of categories

By this I do not mean use of categories on model pages, as the community has done a good job of correctly adding classifications. Rather, the problem is with people adding categories to existing category pages. As it stands, our category system has a simple and streamlined hierarchy which cascades down from the basic (Browse) to general (Weight Classes, etc.) to specific (SSBBW, etc.). As such, there is no need for any additional classifications to be added, especially ones of a non sequitur nature, such as adding the category "Lesbian" to the category page SSBBW, among other recent examples.

To rectify this issue, I have placed protection on all current category pages. This will not affect addition of categories to model pages, so on the whole there will be little impact on the average contributor. However, if you do notice something on an existing category page that should be altered, or feel the need to create a new category and need me to link it into the heirarchy/protect it, please let me know.

2. Speculation

I'm not sure whether I ever formally stated our policy on this matter, and if so, I apologize for calling out contributors on an ex post facto basis. Thus, I will restate it here for further reference.

Speculation, especially in terms of a model's weight, is to be avoided; as a wiki, we are dealing with facts, and thus an accurate but out of date exact figure is preferred over an estimated current figure. Exceptions to this rule may be made if models go an abnormally long time without doing a weigh-in or if they directly state in a video their own estimate of their weight, or in certain cases for retired models and non-model women who are simply known for their large weight (as in this case, it is often difficult to nail down a precise measurement).

Due to its nature, I cannot take action on this issue besides stating the wiki's position here, so I would just like to ask for your discretion in the matter; if you as the contributor cannot add anything to our existing information on a model except for speculation, please refrain from doing so.

Thank you for your time, and happy posting!
