This period marked a turning point where comics became Kip’s main creative focus. On June 3, 2013, the post ''Breakfast with Sister – Alae Augmentum'' formally defined the rules of the Feather Ears, reconciling earlier lore from their October 29, 2011 post.
Grace made her full debut shortly thereafter , on June 19, 2013, appearing in page six of ''Lunch with Sister. Page 16 is notable for its inclusion of lore and the first appearance of the then-unnamed father of Grace, later revealed as Darold Teiai, a background yet influential character throughout Kip’s comics. Page 26 includes the first depiction of nudity on Kip’s profile. The post Ask Kip2 from January 27, 2014, marks the first comic to reveal and show Kip and Kat’s mother. Page 32 of Lunch with Sister is the first to feature humiliation fetish elements, a theme that would later become prominent in One Serving Choice (OSC) and appear occasionally in No Lunch Break (NLB). It also introduces feather-shrinking mechanics. Pages 27 and 33 explore themes of possession and dominance, foreshadowing dynamics later developed in No Lunch Break, particularly through the character Sandy. On page 38, Kip’s weight is stated explicitly as 235 lbs, one of the few direct mentions of weight across Kip’s work. Page 41 reveals Grace was once chubby and hopelessly addicted to “Aunt Aina’s special melts,” a type of cookie. Page 60 concludes the second chapter with the revelation that Grace’s mother is also Kip and Kat’s mother, making Grace their half-sister. This page also specifies Grace’s age as 21, Kip’s as 19, while Kat’s age remains unclear but implied to be roughly 18. In commentary accompanying this chapter’s conclusion, Kip teased future projects: “Fret not! Breakfast with Sister doesn’t end here! Following will be one or two short spinoff stories for starters. If there is enough public interest I might go back to finish the originally planned arc for Ilsie and History episode for the girls’ mother.” This remark confirmed a scrapped arc involving Ilsie, and teased what would eventually become NLB Kip posted a teaser for Dinner with Sister on July 1, 2015, hinting at the introduction of Bella, the girlfriend of Father Teiai. The third chapter, Dinner with Sister, began serialization on September 16, 2015. Page 6 formally introduces Bella. On page 7, the characters mistake her for their late mother due to a striking resemblance. Bella is revealed to speak with a Southern accent, portrayed through altered spellings (e.g., “yuu” for “you”), and discloses she is from “the South.” It is also revealed that she married Father Teiai during the business trip from which he had just returned. Initially, Bella appears to lack Alae Augmentum, but page 9 reveals she possesses feathers resembling gills or flippers. Bella attributes this to Southerner traits. However, in One Serving Choice page 586 (March 23, 2025), it is suggested these atypical feather appearances instead signal public disgrace. A panel depicts a figure resembling Bella alongside dialogue from a doctor: “THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW FAMOUS CASES LIKE THE PRIME MINISTER ACCIDENTALLY ADMITTING TO EMBEZZLING ON LIVE TV” and “AND A CEO OF A BIG COMPANY WHO GOT FORCEFULLY REPLACED AND DEPORTED.” The drawing strongly implies Bella’s feather form falls under this phenomenon. Also on page 9, Father Teiai is revealed to have won 200,000 units of the story’s unnamed currency, and that he and Bella met shortly afterward. Kat remains suspicious of Bella’s intentions, while Grace and Kip rationalize the relationship as Father Teiai seeking companionship with someone resembling his late wife. On page 12, it is revealed Father Teiai was aware of his late wife’s daughter, Grace. On page 19, it is implied that Darold Teiai (Grace’s father) and Kat and Kip’s father work in the same company, as both return from the South simultaneously. This moment also illustrates Grace’s intense fear of her father. Page 20 features Darold Teiai’s first visual appearance, including the reveal of his name, and page 21 depicts him verbally and physically abusing Grace. A post titled WE NEED TO BUILD A WALL (May 1, 2016) revealed that Darold’s name and design were conceived as a parody of then–Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. In a June 28 post titled Ask Kip Answers, Kip disclosed personal details: Kip was athletic for most of her childhood, Kat is not old enough to drink, while Kip herself has experienced drunkenness. Another post, Kip’s Guide to Surviving Burgerville, revealed Kip’s favorite burger restaurant is Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar. On page 39, Bella is shown in the past with depleted wings, though no other Southerners’ wings are depicted, leaving her claim of unique Southern feathers unverified. Southerners are also shown to have a distinct writing system, and Bella is depicted as possessing an appetite enhancer. Page 46 reveals Grace’s deep jealousy of the Teitei family’s situation, expressing bitterness over her isolated upbringing and lack of familial connection. == No Lunch Break == On January 21, 2017, Kip posted the front cover of No Lunch Break with the following description: “Soon to begin a new comic, an official BWS spinoff! No Lunch Break! The girl on the cover is Sydney and she’s our main heroine. It will be updated every Sunday while BWS updates Wednesdays. Similar themes as Breakfast with Sister, but a different approach. And yes, it WILL have Yuri, and if you have a problem with the purest form of love, kindly remove your sinful self from my presence.” This post confirmed the series’ ties to Breakfast with Sister and introduced the protagonist Sydney by name and design. On March 5, 2017, Kip posted No Lunch Break! Back Cover with the description: “Sydney is your average middle-class worker who leads a boring average life with nothing out of the ordinary except she fantasizes about weight gain and chubby bellies on girls. When the unexpected happens and her exercise plans go awry, she finds herself becoming a part of her own fantasies. But is it even possible to balance your desires with the social game that’s going on in a world where appearances are everything? Or will it be one or the other?” The description further notes: “The theme of the comic is fat fetish and society and all the challenges that you have to face when these clash. It’s about self-acceptance and compromise and pondering whether being true to yourself is worth it in the end or not. Focus on realistic-ish weight gain journey and relationships in a very fat-negative society.” The first two pages of No Lunch Break were posted the same day, marking Kip’s first departure from Breakfast with Sister, a departure that would last until the end of the 280 page comic''s run. These pages introduce Tina, Fiina, and Sara, with the second page confirming Tina and Sara’s names. Page 3 establishes Sydney’s motivations, revealing her desire to marry a rich man out of convenience and a desire to permanently slack rather than romance. Page 4, however, reveals her secret admiration for fat bodies. Page 5 traces her preferences back to her childhood, when she watched her swimming instructor’s belly being teased by a coworker. Sydney is shown to be deeply embarrassed and repressive of these feelings. Page 6 reveals Fiina’s name and that she is the only one in the friend group with a partner (a boyfriend). It also introduces Sandy, a character working in customer service, who is often ridiculed. On page 10, Sydney first questions her sexuality, but quickly dismisses the thought. Page 13 depicts Sydney’s treadmill accident, which triggers the main plot. On page 16, Tina vows to quit smoking; a resolution she fails to keep.
Page 29 establishes Sydney’s belief that Tina is straight.Page 30 reveals Sydney’s confidence in her singing voice.Page 34 is a turning point, where Tina kisses Sydney after a moment of comfort, inherently revealing her sexuality and crush. Sydney does not reciprocate, leaving Tina distant and stressed in the aftermath.(To be continued)
