Fat fetishism is a sexual fetish that derives sexual pleasure from fat bodies and their features, weight gain, and the effects of weight gain. The act of intentionally putting on weight to satisfy a fat fetish is known as gaining.

Fat fetishism is related to the act of feedism (or feederism), which is the practice of feeding a partner primarily, but not necessarily, done with the goal to increase their weight. In this relationship, the person who gains gratification from the idea or act of growing bigger or fatter is known as the feedee, whose partner, the feeder, assists them in gaining weight, but who doesn't necessarily gain weight themselves. Feedism can be practiced at any body size, but is most commonly done by people where at least one of the partners is already large. Feederism is the most used term for this concept, but some people prefer feedism to signify that it is not primarily about the feeder, but also the feedee.

Many feedees experience sexual gratification and a romantic bond through feeding fantasies and/or actions. In the gay community, feedees are often referred to as "gainers."^{[citation needed]}

Feedism and gaining are, in many cases, the focus of a web model's profession, with eating and stuffing content (in the form of photos, videos, etc) followed by celebrations of higher weigh-ins.

Feedism and its related activities (for example, fat shaming play), as an intimate sexual activity, must be done with full consent of everyone who is involved.

Denying the fact that you or your partner has gained weight can give sexual arousal. It is a common thing that has to be done outside feederism by gaining people to hide the fact that they have gained.

Having a high body weight can be dangerous to your health and result in complications if not handled properly. There are ways in which you gain/keep weight while maintaining your health, but the heavier you are, the higher the risks can be.
